PC-98 browser-based NEC PC-98 emulator

NEO98 is a browser-based NEC PC-98 emulator designed for quickly testing and playing classic PC-9800 games. Especially visual novels. It runs NP2kai compiled to wasam and requires no installation. Simply drag and drop disk images (.fdd, .hdd) onto the canvas to boot games instantly.

The emulator reproduces a typical PC-98 environment with a V30/i386 compatible CPU, 640×400 display, and YM2608 (OPNA) sound. Rendering is handled through a 640×400 canvas scaled to 1280×800 with nearest neighbour interpolation optional CRT shaders for an authentic retro look.

Features include fullscreen scaling, mouse capture, CRT effects, and save/load state support, auto translations, mixer, patch synth exporter, S98 music exports, etc...

NEO98 focuses on accessibility and fast startup, providing a simple way to explore classic Japanese PC-98 software directly in the browser.

How to use

Click Right Mouse Button or ALT+M on canvas to list the options available:

• drag and drop disk images (.fdd, .hdd) onto the canvas to boot games instantly
• Use the on-screen controls or your keyboard to play.
• Cycles scale 640x400px / 1280x800px / Fit on-screen / Fullscreen
• Captures mouse / press ESC to exit capture mode
• CRT mode
• CRT Configuration
• Grid mode to draw on-screen and capture images
• Save State / Load State
• Mixer + Send FM synth game patches to nineight
• Palette exports 16 colors, 4 bits
• Translations
